Win With WInk Fitness Challenge

HEY GUYS

I am so excited Suzie and I have issued a fitness challenge in our community. Our first meeting was August 14 and we had a huge crowd, 70 people showed up to say this is the beginning of our new life. Our BeachBody friends from Stuarts Draft, Va. Keith Harris and Coni Constatine came up to help us get started.
The meeting consisted of an intro from Suzie , a Brief introduction to BeachBody and a slideshow by Coni,followed by weigh ins , and I spoke a few minutes on nutrition. Keith Did an excellent job filming footage of our meeting.
The Fitness challenge is going to touch many lives, 7o people can reach an astronomical number of other people. I know that any of you that is excited as Suzie and I are will spread the word and touch the people in your life as well.
I wish to thank Frank and Susan Sponaugle for generously allowing us to use the dining room at cliff view golf club and inn for our meetings.

DIET IS NOT STARVATION

Doing

Do you really want it
Is it really worth it
Every bite counts
Treat your body with respect

I know most people that are on a weight loss plan or a diet,that is the most favored of words,associate it with doing without something they like. They will think of deprivation and hunger,it does not have to be that way.Make a plan, read up on good foods, EAT BREAKFAST wake your body up, DONT let it go into starvation mode. 5 to 6 meals a day is a good thing never real hungry never real full.Compose a list of foods you like that are healthy, Make up a few simple meals that have little prep time. The less you have to think about food the easier it gets. You get home you pop that sweetpotatoe in the oven toss that salad fix that piece of fish or chicken 20 minutes, you are eatin a healthy supper, and there are no leftovers ;-) I know I make it sound easy to eat healthy and it really is. If you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything. It is mind over matter. In this case it does matter, alot of us are middleaged and are heading toward the senior years and time is not gettin any slower.We need to fight old age every step of the way reverse our biological clock. I am goin to be like the timex watch , I am goin to keep on ticking.

DC CAMP AND BACK AGAIN






HEY GUYS
I was in the nations capitol this weekend for a fantastic fitness camp with Tony Horton, Creator of the p90x program I am currently using. The weekend consisted of an informal rock climbing outing Friday night after checking into the Hotel, that was an experience I will never forget. We climbed walls that were straight up and some that were inverted, I managed to get up most of them, that was quite a workout in itself.
Saturday morning we assembled at 8AM for a workout led by Tony Horton, these workouts are very intense and on the average I burned 700 calories for the hour. There was an additional workout Saturday plus a workshop on proper form.
Sunday the beatings continued as we were led through an hour of vinyosa power yoga , had breakfast then another seminar. This seminar was very interesting and he spoke on a small part of the brain in the frontal lobe called the hippo campus , it is about the size of the thumbnail part of your thumb and is responsible for your sense of well being, 20 minutes of cardio exercise a day stimulates this part of the brain and has been found to battle depression and help fight Alzheimer's.
This was a fantastic fun filled weekend shared with people from all over the country and Canada with no common interests other than to be healthy and fit, and the desire to share that health and fitness with others

TYPICAL DAY OF EATING

HEY GUYS

Some of you like to know what you can eat to lose weight. Here is a typical day of my meals

Breakfast one cup FIBER ONE cereal with 3/4 cup blueberrys and soy or skim milk " I SOMETIMES MIX WHEY PROTEIN AND A CUP OF PLAIN NOFAT YOGURT INTO THE CEREAL IN PLACE OF MILK

SNACK
Medium apple two pieces string cheese

LUNCH
Wrap 4 oz turkey 1 slice lowfat swiss hotpepper rings sometimes use salmon or tuna instead of turkey The brand of wrap I use are called flat out wraps and have the BESTLIFE seal on them

Snack Banana with about 10 almonds non salted

Supper 4 oz chicken or fish occasionally beef A baked sweet potatoe and a salad or a green veggie

this meal is versatile so many combinations of meat and green veggies baked sweet potatoe is pretty much a staple , if you substitute pasta remember 1 cup cooked pasta is a serving

If you need a snack later a light yogurt is not a bad choice or sugar free jello , celery sticks I am sure you have the right general idea about what is a good snack late at night

That my friends is a pretty basic day of eating in our household

WINK HAS WON


HEY GUYS

It has been a long fulfilling journey that will continue, fitness is not just for the duration of a contest, it is a lifelong commitment. I have learned so much the last three years. Lifestyle change is the key to living a fit life, diets are a dead end street, you lose a few pounds you feel like you reached your goals so then you quit your diet. Guess what, you will more often than not regain your losses but add an additional few as well. The vicious circle we keep going round and round in , it seems there is no easy place to hop off. I would love to see you commit to change and not a diet, make good food choices, find out how many calories you need to consume, make it a good ratio, do yourself a favor. You may not need to lose weight, you might need to get your cholesterol and triglycerides down , exercise and diet will do this as well. You might need to build muscle, find out what it takes, no matter what hurdles you have have in life , you will find anything easier if your body is in as good as shape as possible. Not Everybody in life is going to win $250,000 What is your good health worth. I am fortunate to have won the Grand Prize in the Million Dollar Body Contest, but even if I had not won one thin dime, I have gained the greatest prize in the world a sound body to go with a sound mind. I will leave you on this note , all of us can be fit to some degree, we may not look like centerfolds or beach boys , but to be healthy and fit is a gift, and no matter what the package looks like if you are healthy anything extra is a bonus.
